  • Do I need a prescription or a referral to be evaluated?
No. Patients in Minnesota and Wisconsin can directly access physical therapy services without needing a prescription or referral from a physician.
  • What conditions or injuries do you treat?
We guide patients in recovering from a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions, including back pain, movement restrictions, xyz. Call us at 608-630-1006 if you have questions!
  • What should I expect during my first appointment?
Plan on 60 minutes for your first appointment, or request 90 minutes if you have multiple concerns to address. For your initial evaluation, please arrive 10 minutes early to complete the intake paperwork. Wear or bring comfortable clothing—shorts for lower body or spine issues and loose-fitting t-shirts for upper body concerns First, we will take the time to discuss all of your concerns, then we will do a thorough evaluation of your posture, movement, mechanics, and any additional factors that may be contributing to your issue. Then, we’ll use hands-on manual therapy techniques aimed at promoting movement in your joints and tissues, while activating your neuromuscular system (the connection between your brain and your muscles) to function optimally. Often, we will wrap up the appointment with a few specific exercises to reinforce what we've worked on that day and provide you with some homework to continue making progress until your next session. Follow-up appointments are determined by several factors, but we’ll provide our best estimate and start working with you as soon as possible.
  • How long are appointments/treatment sessions?
Your first appointment is scheduled for a full hour. It consists of a thorough assessment and a review of your current injury, along with some hands-on treatment. Additional treatment sessions will last between 30 to 60 minutes and will always start with a brief re-evaluation, followed by hands-on therapy.
  • When will I start to feel better?
This is a great question for your therapist, since the answer will be very specific to your condition. In general, though, you can expect to see and feel results right away, or within the first few visits. Your recovery will depend on whether you’re addressing a behavior that may contribute to dysfunction or chronic pain, rehabilitating a recent injury, or undergoing a routine body mechanics assessment and training for injury prevention. The best functional outcomes are achieved through collaboration and joint goals with your physical therapist.
